Research Associate (Singapore)

Energy Research Institute @ NTU is currently looking for a Hardware Engineer to join them as a Research Associate. He/she will be part of a cross functional team that develops solutions for remote sensing systems.

The Research Associate will be in charge of (as a first step):
  • Integrate energy harvesting device, sensors & Communication module for indoor applications
  • Test, evaluation & compare solutions
  • Develop & integrate power management unit (PMU)
  • Implement a full solution of energy harvesting developed by NTU/ERIAN
  • Establish & manage multiple testbed for indoor self-energy harvesting sensors
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment of system architecture, design, development, & engineering test plans
  • Provide input on the level of efforts required to complete a project, quantitative evaluation of sensor system according to energy costs, thermal comfort, indoor air quality, illuminance, etc.
This position will contribute towards the simultaneous technical execution of multiple projects. Assessment metrics include customer satisfaction, request response time, quality, development time, & cost.
  • Degree/Master in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or related qualification
  • Working knowledge of fundamentals research desired

  • Sensor hardware architecture & design
  • Solar energy harvesting basic principle
  • Power Management Unit Design (PMU)
  • Sensor nodes
  • Smart gateways & communication protocols (Sensor protocols)
  • Sensors Network & Internet of Things (IoT)
  • Sensor Network remote monitoring and administration
  • Analogue design & system architecture
  • Sensors management software & basic programming: RDBMS, SQL, C/C++, programming in an embedded environment
  • Interface & control software.
