Quality Engineer - Solar Farm (Australia)


  • Ensure that the Project Quality system meets the requirements of the ISO 9001 System and internal Downer requirements.
  • Undertake internal and external audits as required and report on outcomes.
  • Coordinate & Maintain Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for issue to client.
  • Report on key Quality indicators and outcomes on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Establish and maintain the relevant standards applicable on the project in coordination with engineering and technical team members.
  • Coordinate As-Built Drawing (WAE) mark-ups & provide to E&O
  • Coordinate Equipment Operation and Maintenance Manuals (O&Ms) & provide to E&O
  • Coordinate Subcontractor & Supplier drawing transmittals where required
  • Assist in maintaining project file structure
  • Document Control where appropriate
  • Assist in maintaining records of project quality reviews
  • Liaise as necessary with supplier/subcontractor quality representatives
  • Provide assistance to internal & external auditors
  • Assist in identifying & implementing continuous improvement opportunities
  • Assist in the ongoing development of the Quality management system including zero harm initiatives
  • Provide support to Managers and Supervisors in the development of Project Plans, Corrective Actions, and Control Measures


  • Tertiary qualification in Quality Engineering or equivalent demonstrable hands on experience
  • Understanding basic knowledge of Quality – ISO 9001:2000 OH&S Quality Management Systems
  • 7+ years' experience in Project/Construction as a Quality Engineer not as a QA inspector
  • A firm grasp of technical documentation and internal/external auditing
  • Knowledge of ITPs, WAE, O&Ms, CARs etc
  • Knowledge of MS Office software applications
  • Knowledge of power projects and/or civil projects desirable
  • Proven experience in assisting management reporting requirements and instigating change for the improvement of the business
  • Proven capacity to provide effective, QA coordination to a commercial organization.
  • Sound quality analysis skills and ability to adopt a creative, lateral approach to problem solving.
  • Sound analytical and interpretative skills
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well under pressure and under general supervision
  • Flexibility and confidence and the ability to work well with site personnel as well as with technical and professional employees.
